The Jupiter Finger: How do you view yourself?

The Jupiter finger, also known as the index or pointer finger is the King of the fingers and was named after the Roman god Jupiter (Greek god Zeus). Jupiter overthrew Saturn to become king of the Gods. This finger tells you all about how your view yourself.

To determine if it is long or short, hold your hand up looking at the palm side of the hand. Hold your fingers straight and together. Is Jupiter longer or shorter than your Apollo finger? The Apollo finger is your ring finger. If you cannot tell visually, then measure it with a ruler or micrometer. Most people have a longer Apollo finger.

Jupiter is considered long when it exceeds the Apollo finger’s length by even just 1 mm. Jupiter is considered average when Apollo’s length is between 1 mm and 1/2 cm longer than Jupiter. And Jupiter is considered short when Apollo is more than 1/2 cm longer. Take a moment to determine if your Jupiter is long, average, or short.

What if Jupiter is long? People with long Jupiter fingers make better leaders than followers. They like to be in charge and don’t take criticism well. They have high standards for work and like to see themselves reflected in their work. They do better in one-on-one situations or in small groups. They are honest and sincere, but also hard on themselves. Sometimes they can be overly blunt. They take themselves very seriously and are extremely responsible. They love to learn and share what they learn with others.

An average length Jupiter finger gives a sense of balance between how the people view themselves and how they let the world see them. They are not necessarily a leader or a follower, other areas of the hand would need to be examined.

What about a short Jupiter finger? Well, if this you, it indicates a depleted self-esteem inwardly and you may turn to addictions. Learn to value yourself more and try to gain some confidence!

Bends in the finger are significant as well. Does Jupiter stick out away from the other fingers toward the thumb? If it does, then you need your freedom and independence. If you bend towards the Saturn (middle) finger, you may be relying on your job or family to boost your self-esteem.

Let’s take a quick look at the phalanges on the Jupiter finger. Every finger normally has three phalanges. When you look at your hands, you may notice that they are not all the same length. The longest and shortest phalanges may even vary from finger to finger. First identify which phalange is the longest. This will be your orientation to the mental (upper), practical (middle), and sensual/physical (lower) realm. The upper corresponds with the phalange where your fingernail is located.

What if your upper phalange is the biggest? On the Jupiter finger, this means that you have a strong spiritual side. When middle Jupiter is big, you have a lot of ambition. Lower Jupiter corresponds with leadership. If the phalange seems especially small, you are not focused in those areas.

Health and blockages are also located on this finger (as well as all the other fingers.) On Jupiter, a horizontal line in the upper phalange indicates a blockage to your confidence. Vertical lines indicate a possible pituitary gland issue. Note that if you have lines, but they are faint or scratchy, they are nothing to worry about, just ignore them.
